Welcome to the 50s Subcamp

Dear Leader,

The 50s Subcamp staff have been extremely busy to ensure you have the time of your life whilst camping on our Subcamp in August this year!

The Subcamp team is made up of 20 Scouters and Guiders from a wide and varied Scout and Guide background. The team has many years of Jamboree experience between them. We also have some young leaders on board and this will be their first time helping to organise such a large event.

Over the next three months we will be sending you information regarding the Jamboree and what we have organised for you on our Subcamp. We will also continue to update the website with important information so please visit this regularly to stay up to date with what’s going on.

As group participation is essential to ensure a successful event we have a few requests for you to begin with:

  1. We are asking all contingent groups to decorate an 8 inch vinyl record with your group/troop name and colours, making it as colourful as possible as these will be hung on our juke box gate wall as you enter the subcamp.
  2. Please can you also design and create a banner for your contingent to be part of the 50s Subcamp. This can be used at the Welcoming ceremony and displayed outside your gate for the duration of camp.
  3. We are running a competition for the best contingent gate design – so get your “thinking caps on” and be as creative as you can, there may be a prize for the winner!!
  4. The Farewell Ceremony at the end of the camp! We would like to encourage as many of you to dress up in your Subcamps eras fancy dress. Therefore, get yourselves organized and search out some 50s wear for the occasion
  5. Lastly, we would like to request that you bring additional sleeping bags to ensure you have backups if required as this has been an issue in previous camps when some areas were flooded due to heavy rain.

To help us with future correspondence, the preferred method for us is email, so, if you are not happy to communicate via this method please advise us. The Subcamp email address is

The team looks forward to welcoming you to the Jamboree in August. In the meantime, if you have any other questions, concerns or queries then please do not hesitate to contact us and we will endeavour to answer them. Don’t worry, if we can’t help then we will know someone who can!

If there is any member of your group that is celebrating a birthday or special event, please let us know in advance to enable us to plan and provide something suitable for them.

Whether this is your first time at Norjam camp or if you are returning campers, we promise you can look forward to having a great week, full of fun, excitement, activities and meeting many new friends.
