The zone kicks off with inflatable fun, winds through the thrilling caving simulator, challenges you in an outdoor escape room, and finishes with hands-on bushcraft adventures. It’s a full-on experience from start to finish.
This Norjam, the Bushcraft team has brought along a whole host of new activities for everyone to enjoy. Discover new skills and expand your camping know-how as you explore each bushcraft station. Get into the groove with Nordic swing braiding, create your own friendship bracelet, bookmark, or even combine multiple braids into one super braid! Scouts from 11th Barton returned to the activity this morning to take their braiding to the next level, proudly showing off a four-strand mega braid, calling it their “favourite activity of Norjam.”
Next up, try your hand at elder woggle making, where you’ll use raffia paper and twigs to craft a one-of-a-kind woggle that will definitely turn heads. Then, test your survival skills with fire-making, where you’ll try three different techniques to create a flame worthy of Scout legend. And don’t miss the games and timed challenges sprinkled across the area – complete them all to earn your exclusive Bushcraft sticker!
For those aged 14 and up, there’s even the chance to cook over an open fire. In your first session, whip up tasty treats like pizza pockets, chocolate twists, or hot dog sausage rolls. Then return for session two and try your hand at baked apples, chocolate orange sponge, or a classic cowboy dinner, perfect fuel for more bouncing or a chilled-out break.
The Inflatables area is a thrill-seeker’s paradise! From leaping off the soft mountain, racing through the assault course, dancing in the inflatable disco, or conquering the wipeout challenge — there’s something to test everyone. The rodeo bull, hosted by the lively Ben from Island Inflatables, adds a hilarious twist. Heidi from 3rd Dibdon Scout Group said, “The bull riding is my favourite activity,” while fellow Scout Dominic loved “the assault course — especially the jump into the crash mat.”
Whether you’re facing your fear of heights or trying to master the bungee run, there’s endless fun to be had.
After all that action, test your mind with the outdoor escape room. Use your bespoke clue pack to solve eight different challenges and unlock the final mystery box. Crack the code, and you’ll earn a special certificate to prove your problem-solving power.
And before you leave, crawl your way through the caving simulator, a winding maze ending with a slide to the finish line. Can you find your way out?
