Fuelling your staff
We all know that an army marches on its stomach, and it’s fair to say Jamboree staff are no different.
Over 400 staff have been centrally catered this week in the Piggery on Cromer subcamp. The task of catering for the ravenous staff fell to 17 members of catering crew from RAF Marham.

Feeding over 400 people with two cooked meals and a packed lunch everyday is no mean feat and is achieved by three shifts, The morning Team work from – 5am to 3pm – this team prep and serve breakfast, then clear down and do some of the prep for the next morning. The Late Team work from 10:30 am to 8:30 pm – this is where dinner for the day is prepared, cooked, served and cleared down. The Night Team come in at 8:30pm to 5am and prepare the sandwiches and lunch options for collection at breakfast and start cooking the early parts of breakfast service.

Richard told me that while hes done other events this is his first civilian event. “It’s a different crowd, but I’ve enjoyed it”. Stewards, Sally and Dani have found themselves in a slight reverse of their usual role. Where they would normally be hosting and organising hospitality and catering, they have been part of the preparation and serving of our staff dinner. “It’s nice to come out and put other skills into practice” said Sally. Of the event itself, Dani said that “it looks like a lot of fun and i think my kids would love it! My daughter is a Squirrel.”
